Measurement School Readiness Math Toolbox

3 years & up. Children will be introduced to math concepts such as length, volume, weight, distance, and temperature with the materials and activities in this toolbox. Children will engage in hands-on math activities encouraged by eight activity card(s), road ruler, tape measure, and a set of manipulatives that incorporate all the listed math skills and more.

Measurement of length, width, and height is a foundational skill for many other mathematical concepts. Weight, temperature and volume are all based on knowledge of measurement.

These skills can be transferred to everyday life skills such as following a recipe, building and carpentry, driving speed, dispensing medications, and telling time.

Estimation is beneficial when choosing a clothing size, determining what size luggage will be needed for a trip, judging if your vehicle will fit into a parking space, or how much food to prepare for a meal.
