The Carolina Connections collection is a furniture system that supports all children, regardless of their gifts, capacities, and learning abilities. Based on extensive research, this modular furniture collection emphasizes empathic, inclusive design and increases the functionality and accessibility of classroom spaces by responding to the diverse strengths and needs of young children.
Rather than designing classroom furniture for typically developing children and then making accommodations, Carolina Connections transforms the traditional classroom into a nurturing environment that prioritizes access, authenticity, connection, and sensory-based experiences for all.
Through its seamless collaboration with the existing Kaplan Carolina birch furniture line, this exclusive collection fits into existing classrooms and is tailored to an array of unique interests, providing all children with the opportunity to engage and thrive.
The natural aesthetic, textured patterns, height-adjustable furnishings, offset toe kicks, and wave-like curves of this collection inform the flow of the classroom and make the space and resources accessible to every child, even those requiring a mobility device.
Multi-tiered workspaces provide experiences where children can collaborate and play together but have their own separate area to explore sensory materials, create art, and engage socially without the discomfort of direct peer-to-peer interaction.
This collection gives children the opportunity to explore at their own pace with places to rest or wait for caregiver assistance, and helps slow the activity of the classroom, alleviating anxiety and overstimulation.

The Carolina Collection by Miriam Beloglovsky offers beautifully highly quality crafted furniture and materials specifically designed for early childhood environments. This collection not only prioritizes aesthetic appeal, but also thoughtfully integrates accommodations for children with diverse abilities. The Carolina Collection honors every child's unique strengths and enhances their learning experience with empathy and care.
The Collaborative Easel is one of my favorite pieces in this collection - because of its adjustable height and see-through surface, it allows inclusion, flexibility and adaptation in other planes that are often left forgotten. By adjusting the height, children of varying strength and mobility can play together in the vertical plane. The clear acrylic allows for additional social and communicative cues that are often lost between solid barriers. This piece truly serves to break down physical and environmental barriers to allow children to engage in creativity on their own terms, but with appropriate adjustments for everyone.
Thoughtful, inclusive, and beautiful. If these are the values that you aspire to create in your early childhood education setting, then the Carolina Connections furniture line is exactly what you are looking for. The attention to detail is exquisite. The pieces are circular in nature, promoting a sense of calm and harmony in the environment. My favorite pieces are the discovery tables. The design shape allows for all learners to access the table, something important to me as I work in an inclusive center that supports learners with special rights and diverse abilities. Additionally, they are multipurpose. Often sensory ideas are confined to one bin. Instead, with the discovery tables, children have access to a multisensory experience: experimenting with light, reflection, and hands-on engagement in play.
The latest furniture designs by Connections are thoughtfully crafted to be safe and accessible. The sensory-friendly considerations along with a variety of ergonomic designs, has created learning opportunities abound! These items have been thoughtfully created with durable and adjustable features. Everyday movements are supported to be easier, inviting, enjoyable and more inclusive with developmentally appropriate opportunities in mind. A wonderful addition to any classroom or clinic setting working with young children!
The Carolina Connections furniture (collection) encourages all children to explore while feeling welcome, safe and included. Aesthetically pleasing to the eye, each piece is constructed with safety, durability and accessibility in mind. Curved edges at the sensory tables that come in various heights allow children to engage with materials and collaborate with each other as they discover loose parts, or sensory materials. Storage trays help children to bring materials to the tables or other spaces as they explore. The wide acrylic easel invites young artists to paint and create side by side with other children while also engaging in social interactions with those who might be across the way. Because the furniture can be laid out in a variety of ways and there are multiple seating and standing options, children with diverse abilities are actively involved with their peers. This collection invites and motivates each child to engage, explore and learn with others.
