In this true story a group of African-American female mathematicians, also called "human computers", work hard to launch rockets into space. Hardcover. 40 pages.
When students come into the library they are given an overwhelming amount of choices in reading material. It is imperative to have quality works that can cover multiple facets and make reading still fun. When a book like Hidden Figures comes along, you have to take notice. The illustrations are beautiful and the number of facts and additional glossary help enhance the storyline. This is one I'd recommend across grade levels with various scaffolding or reading aloud as needed. A winner in terms of being a nonfiction window, mirror and sliding glass door type of work!!!
