After searching the internet looking for some more or less realistic looking zoo/jungle animals for my 1.5 year old grandson, I remembered about Kaplan (from whom I have bought quality toys before) and, as expected, I found what I was looking for...this set.I thought these would be perfect for my grandson. Justified or not, I was assuming they were made of *solid* hard rubber/plastic......... but they are actually *hollow* and the plastic is kind of thin, where the sides give a little when you squish them.NOTE: They do seem to a degree quality. I imagine they will hold up to years/decades of reasonable play........ but they are not the heavy duty solid hard rubber animals I was expecting i.e. that I had as a child.... or that my children had in their generation.I was almost ready to send them back, but my wife likes them, so we will be giving them to our grandson.... and he will probably like them fine..... But these won't give him the experience of playing with real solid animal figures that I wanted and expected him to have from these. So that is why I am giving only 2 stars, etc.
