I'm a third grade teacher & I’m always looking for materials that get kids thinking rather than passively consuming, and Rail Cube is just what I needed for my classroom! This is the second year that I've used it as a teaching a classroom tool and the possibilities are endless! The pieces are snap together magnetic blocks in five different colors, each of which sends the little train in a different direction: up, down, upside down, or sideways. I realized that Rail Cube is fun and engaging because every build is a small engineering problem. Will the train make it through the loop? Why did it stall on that turn? My students predict, test, troubleshoot, and redesign without anyone prompting them. It’s amazing to watch their skills advance so quickly! The coloring squares on the programming notebook are a nice touch for the classroom too, because kids can record a track’s color sequence and rebuild it later or trade designs. It also works as an early introduction to coding concepts like sequencing and algorithms, with no screen involved. The rechargeable trains charge by USB, which is easy to manage between lessons, just get a box where you can plug them all into. My favorite thing about Rail Cube is that it pulls kids into working together, trading ideas, negotiating whose design to try next, and cheering when the train finally completes a tricky course. It suits both my structured STEAM lessons and open-ended free play time. The main drawback is price, since it costs more than typical classroom manipulatives, but I have found so many ways to integrate it into my lessons that I keep coming back. We now have 4 of the Deluxe Set!! and it has become the obvious classroom favorite. Kids from other classrooms are always trying to come over to play with it, and I’ll keep adding a set every few months to my stash because I love it too! I just saw they have an elevator now and that is next on my list!I don't want to put pictures of my students online but I will include a photo of my set.

Fun for all ages and all stages. My kids help each other build tracks and work together to figure out the next piece. The coding on the booklet is something I’ve never seen and it’s really helping them learn while they play. Truly one of the best toys I’ve seen in a long time and wish I had one as a kid!

So Much Fun at Any Age!Rail Cube is one of those toys that you just can’t stop watching! The trains are absolutely mesmerizing as they move around the track, and the sound is so lovely and calming. It’s the kind of toy that draws everyone in — kids AND adults!There’s something really special about sitting together build and rebuilding to watch the trains go. It’s fun, relaxing, and engaging for the entire family.And honestly… we need more pieces! Once you get started, you’re going to want to keep building and expanding the track.
