Links to Literacy Early Learning Assessment (LLELA)

Links to Literacy is now offering a new program assessment - Links to Literacy Early Learning Assessment (LLELA). The LLELA is supported by research and assists with individualization. Teachers and parents will benefit from this assessment because they will know "specific" activities and strategies to use to assist in their children's growth. Links to Literacy Assessment Manual is available with the Links to Literacy curriculum or can be purchased separately for programs that are already using the Links to Literacy Curriculum.

Episcopal Children's Services, Inc.From humble beginnings as one center serving a small handful of children, Episcopal Children's Services, Inc. (ECS) has grown to become one of Florida's largest child development and school readiness organizations.

No other childcare organization in Florida has more programs accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. ECS has been recognized as a national model by Yale University for programs in promoting child health and reducing family stress. ECS's efforts in child development, school readiness and literacy have been awarded numerous grants and have been nationally recognized for innovation and success.

ECS staff also operates the Regional Training Institute, an important professional development arm that prepares early childhood teachers for credentialing as a Child Development Associate. The Regional Training Institute also mentors child development programs around the country seeking accreditation.

This training is designed to introduce and assist teachers on how to effectively implement the curriculum on a daily basis to increase children’s school readiness skills. Links to Literacy is a research-based, comprehensive curriculum designed to provide a strong foundation for early literacy development in preschool children. This training is highly interactive and offers many hands-on activities and practice sessions to implement the various components of the curriculum.


During this training participants will:

  • Learn purpose and research that supports the curriculum
  • Learn how to link the learning goals and objectives to standards
  • Learn the critical pre-reading skills: oral language development, print knowledge, phonological awareness, and alphabet recognition
  • Understand the curriculum format and how to extend learning into all learning areas of the classroom
  • Learn how to use the curriculum to plan, develop lesson plans, and meet the individual needs of all children
  • How to involve parents in their child’s learning

Good basic curriculum but requires external resour

Its a basic preschool curriculum. The illustrations are very small, there are no patterns or templates to copy for actual lesson plans. The lessons refer the teacher to other books that have to be borrowed or purchased. Its good for an experienced teacher who already owns many children's books and many other materials otherwise, it is not practical for a beggining program.

This curriculum is very user-friendly.

This curriculum is quite user friendly, allowing you to unpack and hit the floor running. The lessons are aligned with our state standards and are clearly written. More importantly, the activities are developmentally appropriate and engage the children through play.
