This training offers basic instruction on the correct administration, scoring, and interpretation of results of the selected LAP instrument. Participants will receive the training necessary to reliably utilize the selected LAP assessment as an instructional tool. During this training, participants will:
- Learn consistent standards and procedures for administering the specified LAP instrument
- Be trained to correctly complete all information on a LAP Scoring Booklet
- Be given opportunities for hands-on experiences with the selected LAP instrument and to proactive administration, scoring, and instructional planning based on assessment results
- Become familiar with the interpretation of the LAP scores and their use in individualizing instruction and evaluation of program effectiveness

Computerized Scoring Assistant (CSA)
Mobile Scoring Assistant (MSA)
This training session enables participants to fully implement supplemental software for the Learning Accomplishment Profile (LAP) suite of assessment products. During this training, participants will:
- Access program through either the CD or web-based application
- Set up classrooms and enter child-specific information
- Practice entering data collected during the assessment process
- Generate child, classroom, and program reports depicting assessment results
Interpreting and Using Assessment Results
This training may be combined with the Introduction of the LAP Instrument to provide a thorough training on the administration and subsequent uses of the LAP assessment results. The training can also be delivered to experienced users of the LAP instrument as an in-depth look at the follow-up uses of LAP scores in screening, diagnosis, and/or instructional planning. During this training, participants will:
- Examine case studies of children to become familiar with interpretation of scoring results and with other sources of important data relative to children's development
- Become proficient in using assessment results and other evaluation data to individualize instruction
- Learn how to use materials such as the IEP Guide and LAP Activity Cards to facilitate daily planning based on LAP results and IDEA regulations
h2 Planning Guide Orientation and Overview
This training offers teachers and child care providers an introduction to the Infant/Toddler Planning Guide or the Planning Guide to the Preschool Curriculum, 4th Edition. The training can be customized for staff completely new to the curriculum or adapted for staff who have had some experience and background with the respective curriculum. During this training, participants will:
- Receive information on the framework upon which the selected Planning Guide curriculum was developed
- Learn the format and design of the selected Planning Guide and how to use it as a valuable teacher resource
- Involved in preliminary planning for implementation and integration of the thematic units into daily instruction
Planning Guide Implementation
This training takes participants farther into the implementation and integration of the specified Planning Guide into classroom instruction. Teachers have additional time for planning and exploration of the thematic units. During this training, participants will:
- Receive information on the framework on which the respective Planning Guide curriculum was developed
- Learn the format and design of the selected Planning Guide and how to use it as a valuable teacher resource
- Be involved in planning for implementation and integration of the curriculum into daily instruction
- Review the thematic units and explore implementation ideas and strategies
Thematic Kits to Support Planning Guide Activity Areas
This training shows teachers how to easily integrate Kaplan's 36 Thematic Unit Kits into their daily instruction. These sets of developmentally appropriate materials support and compliment the implementation of the 36 Thematic Units in the Planning Guide to the Preschool Curriculum, 4th Edition. Up to four Thematic Kits can be covered in a training day. During this training, participants will:
- Become familiar with the contents of each selected Thematic Kit
- Explore a multitude of instructional uses for the components of the selected Thematic Kit
- Learn uses for the components of the selected Thematic Kits that will enhance the implementation of the Planning Guide to the Preschool Curriculum

This training facilitates the use of any or all of the above materials to support and enhance the implementation of the Planning Guide for the Preschool Curriculum. Training can be customized to cover implementation of any of the above materials independent of thee use with the Planning Guide for the Preschool Curriculum. During this training, participants will:
- Receive information on these tools from Kaplan Early Learning Company that provide a comprehensive screening, assessment, and curriculum package
- Complete practical application activities for implementing selected support materials into the classroom curriculum
