Introduction and Implementation of the High/Scope® Approach

Educating Young ChildrenThis training provides participants with information and strategies for the initial implementation phase of the High/Scope approach to preschool instruction. Teachers and child care providers will receive a tightly condensed 2-week series of training that will give them the groundwork for classroom implementation. During this training, participants will:

  • Receive information on the philosophy of the High/Scope curriculum
  • Familiar with the key components of the High/Scope curriculum and the role these components play in the implementation process
  • Be introduced to the various High/Scope support materials that will assist them with the curriculum implementation
  • Involved in planning for implementation of the curriculum into their daily instruction.

Child Observation Record Kit (COR)

Child Observation Record KitTeachers and child care providers are taught how to use the Child Observation Record (COR) Kit as an assessment instrument and planning tool. During this training, participants will:

  • Learn how to write anecdotal notes from observing children
  • Learn how to measure and report child outcomes and learning progress using the COR materials
  • Learn how to use assessment information from the COR to share children's progress with parents and to plan classroom instruction
