Between preparing for our trip to Houston for the National Title I Conference (January 28–31) and the 2016 edition of our catalog coming out, January has been an exciting and busy month for Kaplan Elementary! As your source for the best supplemental materials, we’ve added some great new products to our lineup this year. You can see some of the new products featured in the 2016 Kaplan Elementary catalog at the National Title I Conference. We’ll be at booth #420, #422, and #424, and we look forward to seeing you! Here’s a preview of what you’ll find at our booths:

Exciting Family Engagement Resources

A major focus of this year’s catalog is family engagement. If your school receives Title I funding, you know that having robust family engagement activities and keeping parents involved is an important component of that funding. Effective family engagement events and activities require a lot of time, effort, and organization, which is why we offer a full line of family engagement materials that can help you plan a fun, engaging, and creative parent workshop, family night, or other activity. Our family engagement products are designed to meet the needs of students and families from PreK through 5th grade. Here are just a few of the family engagement resources you can use to build and strengthen the school-home connection:

TAG You’re It!

Each TAG You’re It! kit helps schools and teachers keep parents engaged in their children’s literacy development throughout the school year. Teachers select a fiction or informational text TAG You’re It! card that correlates with classroom instruction to send home to parents. Families then get involved by incorporating the parent-friendly literacy strategy on the TAG card into their reading at home.

The Spectacular School Race

This spectacular, fun-filled family event supports children as they transition into kindergarten. Families will use a school map and route clue cards to find their way to 10 classroom pit stops that are filled with challenging activities aligned with Common Core Standards and school readiness goals. The Spectacular School Race includes all of the manipulatives you need to easily accommodate up to 100 families in the race.

10 Minute Talks

Use 10 Minute Talks at your next PTO/PTA meeting or family engagement event as an easy way to quickly share tips and strategies on homework, spelling, sight words, or summer reading with parents. Each mini-workshop comes with a CD that includes a presentation slide show, presenter script, and 50 parent brochures. Title I Documentation is included, and additional parent brochures are also available.

mathshapes: go figure!

This engaging math tutorial is the perfect way to get kids thinking, explaining, and writing mathematically. Available for grades 1–5, mathshapes: go figure! strengthens children’s understanding of math while empowering parents to be resources for their children. Each grade level program includes a Student Book, Parent/Tutor Resource Book, and grade-appropriate manipulatives. Please contact us for more information on whole class implementation.
