Fun Valentine's Day Activities for Infants and Toddlers

Celebrating Valentine's Day provides a variety of learning opportunities for infants and toddlers. Paint with Heart-Shaped Cookie Cutters

Use heart-shaped cookie cutters and some red or pink paint to make infant and toddler works of art for Valentine's Day. If you are worried about kids putting paint in their mouths or want to avoid some of the mess or, try using water and dye instead of paint. This easy activity is sure to be a Valentine's Day Favorite.

Make Valentine Mobiles

Assist children with making Valentine Mobiles. This fun arts and crafts activity is great for encouraging creativity and fine motor skills. Help children hang their festive masterpiece in the classroom or send the art home for parents to hang in their children's rooms. Encourage children to add their unique styles to the Valentine Mobile.

Materials:

 

  • Red, pink, and purple paper
  • Scissors
  • Red yarn
  • Glue

Instructions

 

  1. Cut out hearts in a variety of sizes from red, pink, and purple paper.
  2. Give each child an 18" length of yarn.
  3. Let the children choose hearts to glue to the yarn–make sure you leave 8" at the top.
  4. Hang the mobiles from a hanger or ceiling.
