Inclusion Strategies for Children with Special Needs

Providing special needs children with "the least restrictive environment" should be part of meaningful instructional experiences for all the children in the classroom. This course suggests effective strategies for working with children with special needs and their peers within the classroom setting. This will help providers make certain that inclusion activities are rewarding experiences for all of their students. During this training, participants will:

  • Receive an overview of characteristics that define children with special needs
  • Learn how to modify developmentally appropriate practices for the individual
  • Brainstorm practical applications for working with the special needs child and with his/her peers

Differentiated Instruction for Special Needs Children

"Developmentally Appropriate Instruction" applies to the age and the individual needs of each child. Learn how to plan and implement an individualized approach to instruction for children with special needs. Participants learn how to document areas of concern and create realistic benchmarks. During this training, participants will:

  • Design a possible education plan for the special needs child
