Director's Training
What does it take to be a Director? Directors wear many hats. Discover the skills and techniques needed to do it all well! Receive instruction on effective time management, program planning, budgeting, staffing, customer service and payroll. Also provided; an overview of the regulatory requirements of running an ECE program. During this training, participants will:

Creating a Quality Childcare Program
Educators and care-givers discover the factors that determine a quality childcare program. Participants learn how to make the most of their space, materials and time as well as how to develop the most of a staff's abilities through staff development. Strategies for implementing these techniques will be developed and an evaluation tool designed to monitor a Childcare's quality. During this training, participants will:
- Understand the relationships between spatial, temporal, material and developmental planning (including the principles behind ITERS/ECERS and SACERS)
- Understand the importance of understanding Child Development
- Can develop an instrument to evaluate a programs quality

Team Building
A team is: A group of people working together for a common goal. From Lesson Planning to Classroom Instruction — it's easier for everyone when staff all work together. Discover techniques to help your staff pool their talents and resources, promote positive relationships and resolve conflicts through team building activities. During this training, participants will:
- Experience activities that promote team building skills
- Learn how to best resolve and even avoid conflict

Lowering the Stress and Maintaining the Motivation
Stress can actually make you physically ill and it can get in the way of a positive work environment Participants in this session will learn how to recognize the signs of work related burnout in themselves and others and learn the physical and emotional effects stress has on our bodies. Once stress factors are identified it's easy to discover simple ways to counter stress producing situations. Participants will leave this course ready to meet challenges with renewed enthusiasm! During this training, participants will:
- Learn how to recognize possible stressors, and their effects
- Understand the difference between real and imagined stress
- Experience ways to de-rail stress and rejuvenate their enthusiasm
Dealing with Challenging People
Early Childhood Education involves a great deal of "Customer Service" and communicating with people. . some whom we may not communicate with well. This course will help participants to understand different types of difficult situations and difficult personalities, and how to know the difference. Through discussion and role play participants will master how to deal with both effectively - so that everybody wins. During this training, participants will:
- Learn the difference between what is "said," what is "heard," and what is "meant"
- Know that all people (even the difficult) have value
- Practice effective communication in difficult situations
Outdoor Learning Environment
Make the outdoors not just a place for play, but a wonderland for discovery! This course provides caregivers with ideas to extend the curriculum beyond the classroom. The Outdoor Learning Environment provides the children with the perfect space for hands-on exploration and multi-domain Instruction. The instructor will provide tips to make the playground and outdoor area(s) an important and exciting component of daily lesson planning. During this training, participants will:
- Brainstorm ways to extend lesson planning outdoors
- Design a sample outdoor area that promotes positive learning experiences
- Be provided with outdoor learning games, activities and spatial planning ideas
Kindergarten Readiness
What do our children need to master in order to be ready for Kindergarten? Learn about these developmental and educational benchmarks. Find out what is expected, how we can prepare them and how we can measure their progress so that they can say "I am ready!" During this training, participants will:
- Be provided with Kindergarten Readiness Benchmarks
- Learn activities that promote curriculum Kindergarten Readiness
- Learn activities that promote a smooth social transition to Kindergarten
Preparing for the PRISM
Head Start directors and administrative staff can receive assistance and consultation in preparing their Head Start program for their next PRISM review. An experienced consultant in the PRISM review process will provide on-site assistance to you and your staff so that your next review will be without stress and worry. During this training, participants will:
- Receive information on key factors and items in the PRISM review
- Create an effective survey to pinpoint issues and non-compliance items prior to the PRISM review
- Create a plan to educate staff and parents on the PRISM review process and their responsibilities in the review
Positive Guidance
"Accentuate the positive — eliminate the negative…" This course will show teachers how to get the children to want their "good attention." Learn how to decrease negative behaviors while encouraging positive behaviors. Learn the many things that can be done before considering time out. Learn tools for better communication and happier classrooms! During this training, participants will:
- Understand and practice good verbal and non-verbal communication
- Learn the importance and meaning of positive modeling
- Leave with multiple ways to avoid "time out" (i.e. proximity, non-verbal cues, shadowing, distraction, reason, redirection, self-monitoring, and inspiration)
Building Self-Esteem in Children
Children who feel good about themselves explore more, try harder, are more easily excited about learning. Here's a class that will help teachers help children to feel and to be the best they can be. Participants will explore self esteem building activities designed to educate and inspire. During this training, participants will:
- Learn how to model and promote healthy self esteem
- Understand the correlation between self esteem and personal growth and development
- Experience fun classroom activities that promote healthy self concepts
Nutrition in the Early Childhood Classroom
MOST are "picky" eaters to some degree. How can we get them to eat well? And what do they need? Learn about the nutritional needs of young children, and the best practices for ensuring nutritious and well-received meals in your early childhood setting. During this training, participants will:
- Identify specific nutritional needs of small children
- Identify "triggers" (foods that impact behavior and moods)
- Identify recipe / meal ideas to satisfy the many varied eating preferences of young children
Classroom Makeover
Does your classroom need a makeover? Learn how to create fun and effective classroom makeovers particularly when funds, materials, and space are limited. During this training, participants will:
- Learn how the environment impacts a child's learning and staff morale
- See demonstration on how to arrange, set up, create, and facilitate a rich learning environment
- Learn how to create a rich learning environment on a limited budget
