This training introduces a specific Rating Scale(s) to participants who will either administer the instrument(s) or staff who will be affected by Rating Scale(s) results. During this training, participants will:
- Become familiar with the purpose and content of a selected Rating Scale(s)
- Learn basic administration and scoring protocol

Environment Rating Scales — Administration and Scoring
Participants are trained how to administer, score, interpret, and use the results of a selected Rating Scale. During this training, participants will:
- Become familiar with the purpose, content, and administration criteria for a selected Rating Scale
- Learn how to administer and score a selected Rating Scale
- Administer and score a selected Rating Scale during a site visit
*Note: Observation of and consultation with participants in field practice may require multiple trainers depending on number of participants. The Purchasing Agency is responsible for providing field practice sites.
Environment Rating Scales — Using Results to Enhance the Learning Environment
Training enables the participants to use results to enhance the learning environment and increase instructional effectiveness. During this training, participants will:
- Receive assistance with the interpretation of Rating Scale results
- Learn how to use results to enhance the learning environment and instruction
- Explore instructional materials that support and strengthen areas that were identified by the Rating Scale
*Note: Additional time may be scheduled for site-visits and/or one-on-one consultation with specific teachers to assist with interpretation of scoring results and implementation of classroom enhancement strategies.
All About…
All Users of the Infant/Toddler Rating Scale (ITERS-R) or Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS-R), including early childhood practitioners, technical assistance specialists, licensing staff, and researchers, will find the answers to their interpreting questions. This training familiarize participants with the format of this useful book that is correlated to ever indicator of the subscales in ITERS-R and ECERS-R. During this training, participants will:
- Learn how All About the ITERS-R or All About the ECERS-R is organized and how it correlates to it's respective Rating Scale
- Examine information on how each indicator within each item is to be interpreted
- Learn how to find and use information in All About the ITERS-R or All About the ECERS-R to insure results across observers and settings
