Cool Springs Marriott

Make plans now to join the Tennessee Association for the Education of Young Children for "A Brighter Day For All," a statewide, 4-day early childhood conference.
Keynote Speakers
Dr. Pam Phelps, the Vice-President of The Creative Center for Childhood Research and Training, a non-profit corporation providing training and program consultation for adults working with young children. Dr. Phelps will focus on "How the quality and content of early childhood envi-ronments prevents behavior problems and supports children's pro-social development."
Robin Karr-Morse, formerly the Director of Parent Training for the Oregon child welfare system, is a family therapist. She argues that the traditional explanations of the cause of violence, such as poverty, are simplistic and allow the rest of society to distance itself from the very intimate realities shaping children in homes of all classes.
Jim Gill, known as a musician and author, holds a child development graduate degree from the Erikson Institute of Chicago. Because of his studies, his goal has always been to promote active play between adults and children with his music. Anyone who has ever attended one of Jim's family concerts knows that rather than performing for the children and parents, Jim leads them to sing and play together.
Mary Jo Huff, is the author of "Storytelling with Puppets, Props and Playful Tales" believes that storytelling is an important part of every Early childhood curriculum. With more than 30 years of experience she will share her love for storytelling and how to develop a storytelling curriculum that suits your specific classroom needs.
