How to Submit a Proposal to the Publishing Division
Kaplan Early Learning Company is always looking for new authors and opportunities to publish cutting edge materials. While we are excited to be able to receive and review these materials, you must adhere to a submission process. We will not be responsible for unsolicited manuscripts and product ideas.
Scope
Kaplan Early Learning Company publishes all formats of resource and evaluation materials for the Early Childhood community, from birth to 3rd grade.
Including but not limited to the following:
- Textbooks
- Curriculum Materials
- Assessment tools and products
- Support materials
- Other original resources that deal with theory, research, practice and education.
- Please note that Kaplan Early Learning Company's Publishing arm, KPRESS is currently not accepting manuscripts or inquiries to publish children's books.
Acceptance
The acceptance criteria for all papers are the quality and originality of the resources and its significance to our customer base. All products will be peer reviewed by our team of Early Childhood Education experts. We respectfully reserve the right to refuse any material for publication. Final acceptance or rejection rests with the team and the Director of Publishing as to the viability and saleability of the product.
- Please note that the review process is sometimes lengthy and while we will make attempts to acknowledge submissions, it may not be possible due to the amount of queries received.
- Please do not mail completed manuscripts for review.
- Please do not mail prototypes for review.
- Please follow the guidelines set forth correctly.
- We will not be held responsible for the loss of unsolicited materials.
Author Guidelines and Checklist
Proposals will be accepted for publication on the understanding that the content has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
- Cover letter — Letter of introduction
- Outline — Provides a general frame of reference for your work. It is your book's story.
- Product Physical Description — e.g.: textbook, assessment, teacher manual, children's texts, supplement, etc.
- Statement of Purpose — What is the product's main intention, goal or purpose?
- Author Credentials — Resume, background, other publications, articles and areas of expertise.
- Competition and Market — Are you aware of any similar works and how does your book compare to them?
- Sample pages or chapters may be sent for review. Please do not send complete manuscripts.
- Please declare any financial support or relationships that may pose as a conflict of interest.

- We would like to recommend that you send packages via UPS or FedEx to ensure a tracking a number for the package and receipt.
- If you require your product to be returned, please include return address and postage on an appropriately sized envelope.
- If you have a product that is already being manufactured and you would like for Kaplan Early Learning Company to consider being a supplier of your product, please send those submissions to our Merchandising Department.
