2. Assess the lay of the land

• Measure your allocated play space
• Does the land have adequate drainage?
• How many children will play here?
• What special needs do you need to consider?

3. Work up your budget

To avoid unexpected pitfalls, remember to include:

• Equipment
• Freight
• Site preparation
• Installation
• Surfacing

2. Build with Kaplan's unique phasing program.
   • Year 1-Install the first phase - Ready for play
   • Year 2-Add the second phase according to the established plan.
   • Year 3-Add the third phase and your playground's complete!

4. Select your equipment

• With Kaplan, there are lots of paths to choose! Request our Outdoor Classroom Catalog Online!
• Choose a play unit exactly as it's shown in our catalog. Our NPSI and CPRA-certified designers have created lots of super structures with just the right combination of activities.
  
  Make some changes, choose a pre designed structure you like, then change a few things around to better meet your needs. Create a custom playstructure, and work with our designers to create your one-of-a-kind play unit!

5. Choose your color scheme

Each playstructure in our catalog has helpful color information provided. You can order it as is OR pick your own colors using our color palette.

6. Decide on surfacing

• The surfacing you choose will affect not only the cost of your playground but also how safe it will be.
• Kaplan is proud to offer rubber safety surfacing. This highly durable surface meets CPSC safety standards and ADA accessibility guidelines.
• If you decide to use loose fill material Kaplan's plastic timbers are an affordable, easy-to-install containment.
