Playground Checklist
Below is a list of points to consider when designing and building a playground. There is also a complete Checklist available as a downloadable document below. Take a look and give us a call. We will be glad to meet with you to discuss the next steps!

Budget Age Group - Diagram Playground Area with dimensions, including trees, shrubs, fences, drains, sidewalks or any other obstacle, drawn to scale on graph paper.
- Take photos/digital images at all relevant angles, access roads/gates, slope, adjoining buildings, existing equipment, equipment to be removed, etc.
- Is there access for a Tractor-Trailer or Truck and Trailer into parking lot and to within 50 feet of the site? (Beware of fences, tight turns, small bridges, low-hanging power lines, etc.) Note all access restrictions
- Can a BOBCAT or Skidsteer (at least 8' opening) easily access the Playground? Width of access: ft.
- Is there fencing around your Playground Site? Wrought Iron, Chain-link, Wood Will the fence need to be taken down to access site? Who will do this?
- Distance to 120 VAC Electrical source ft. Distance to water source ft.
- Is there a SECURE location on-site to store equipment during installation?
- Is there any existing playground equipment or surfacing on the site at this time? Type Will this surface remain or will it be removed? Who will do the removal? Note location of all existing equipment on the sketch.
- Does the Playground Area have any Drainage Problems? Look for signs of erosion, standing water, flooding, runoff, gullies etc.
- What type of surface does the Playground Area have now? Circle all that apply: Asphalt, Concrete, Dirt/Grass, Rubber Surface, Mulch, Pea Gravel, Other
- What type of Safe Surface does the client desire? Circle: Cast-in-place, Rubber tile (bevels?), Woodcarpet, Sand, Pea Gravel, Other
- What is the slope of the Playground Area? %(i.e. Rise/Run-- 12" drop/120" distance=10% Grade.) If over 3%, site excavation/leveling/grading may be required; who will perform the grading?
- Who will do the site preparation? When?
- Will there be any concrete required? Above grade with Back-fill / Flush with grade. Note that Kaplan does not sell/install above grade without backfill.
- Is there a location on-site to dispose of excavated spoils (dirt, rock, debris)?.
