Message from Our Executive VP

The philosophy behind Kaplan Early Learning Company is very simple… we care about children. Education builds futures and what better way to start than with young children. We specialize in providing products that lay the foundation for early learning which helps children prepare for life long success.

The Kaplan story began in 1951 when Leon Kaplan, opened a toy store in Greensboro, North Carolina. He expanded his business in 1952 by opening a second store in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Part of his dream was to provide unique toys and gifts that promote learning as well as play.

The company expanded to multiple locations in late 1950 and early 1960. Leon's advisor and mentor, "Mrs. K.", provided the stability and backbone for our future growth. In 1968, Kaplan School Supply was founded which affirmed the Kaplan commitment to children by introducing toys that teach.

The company has continued to be a strong leader in the field of early care and education through its' publishing and development of curriculum and assessment products. We are excited about the future and the opportunities that lie ahead and are committed to introduce new products that promote learning and play.
